Celebrating forty years of superior service
It’s been forty years since Newsom & Davies Opticians began serving the people of Bristol. We’ve experienced some major changes since Nina Newsom and John Barrand opened a new opticians in Henleaze in 1977..
Ruth Davies joined us in 1986, establishing the partnership that saw us rebranding as Newsom & Davies Opticians in the 1990s. This was also the decade when the first extension of our Henleaze Road practice took place, with a further extension completed more recently.
Our product ranges have expanded alongside our practice, and we now stock hundreds of spectacle and sunglasses frames with lenses tailored to your exact prescription. Contact lenses have also evolved beyond recognition, becoming easier to maintain and far more comfortable to wear. Our innovative Lensplan scheme provides discounts and comprehensive aftercare on contact lenses.
As we celebrate our fortieth anniversary, Newsom & Davies Opticians continues to invest in the latest technology to improve patient vision and eye health. Our practice is home to an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine, producing quick and painless scans of each patient’s retinas. In combination with our Optos Daytona imaging machine, which captures near-instant wide-field images of each eye, we’re able to identify health conditions at an early stage and advise on treatment accordingly. All our eye examinations include advanced digital retinal scanning at no extra charge.
As technology advances in future, Newsom & Davies Opticians will continue to provide cutting-edge care and optimised vision correction to patients of all ages. We have seen thousands of people over the last forty years and look forward to seeing thousands more in the years to come!
